This project developed a food-web model to explore the potential ecosystem effects of changes to small and medium-sized pelagic fish (including jack mackerels, anchovy, pilchards, sprat, yelloweye mullet, blue mackerel, yellow-tailed scad/kōheru) in the Hauraki Gulf. We found that the response of the ecosystem to changes in the abundances of pelagic fishes depended strongly on the extent to which top predators (seabirds, whales/dolphins, fish) are flexible in their diets.
If you are a food manufacturer, food service operator, butcher, food retailer, hospital, school, or even a family household you will be generating food waste. Some of you may be recycling this waste as food for pigs. While this is an environmentally friendly way of disposing of your food waste, there is a risk associated with it that you will need to manage.
Ensure it is meat-free ...or cook any waste that contains, or has come in contact with, meat at 100oC for one hour
The purpose of this document is to describe the MPI process for approving and/or recognising Dairy Maintenance Compounds (DMC). The register of approved and recognised DMCs is maintained by MPI and accessible on the MPI food safety website
